Speaking and Consulting

Thoughtful Leadership. Meaningful Impact.

Leadership Thinking works with schools, districts, organizations, and professional associations to create meaningful experiences that move beyond another presentation, initiative, or checklist.

Whether the need is a keynote that challenges an audience to think differently, professional learning that engages people in meaningful conversation, or consulting support around a specific organizational priority, the work is designed around the people, challenges, and goals of the organization.

There is no one-size-fits-all package. We start with what you are trying to accomplish and build from there.

More than a presentation. An experience that gets people thinking.

A great presentation should do more than fill an hour on an agenda.

Dr. Spike Cook brings more than 25 years of experience in education to keynotes, workshops, leadership retreats, conference sessions, and professional learning experiences. His approach combines storytelling, practical leadership experience, research, humor, honesty, and reflection to create experiences that are engaging, relatable, and thought provoking.

As a practicing school principal, university faculty member, author, and longtime presenter, Spike understands both the challenges of leading and the realities of the people sitting in the audience. His presentations are authentic and conversational while still challenging participants to examine assumptions, consider new perspectives, and think more intentionally about their work.

Expect honesty. Expect humor. Expect practical ideas. And expect to think.

Consulting

From ideas to intentional action.

Sometimes organizations do not need another initiative. They need the time, structure, and outside perspective to think carefully about the work already in front of them.

Leadership Thinking partners with schools, districts, leadership teams, and organizations to clarify priorities, examine current practices, develop meaningful goals, and create practical systems for moving the work forward.

Consulting is grounded in current educational leadership practice, research, professional training, and decades of experience implementing the work in schools. Engagements are customized around the needs of the organization rather than built around a predetermined package or program.

Customized Organizational Support
Every organization has its own challenges. Leadership Thinking can work collaboratively with leadership teams around a specific challenge, initiative, transition, or organizational need.

The goal is not to bring another prepackaged program into your district. It is to understand where you are, determine where you want to go, and build an intentional process for getting there.

Grounded in Practice

Leadership Thinking is grounded in the perspective of a practicing educational leader.

The challenges facing schools and districts today are not theoretical to me. I continue to navigate changing expectations, instructional priorities, staff development, accountability, school culture, student and family needs, technology, competing demands on time, and the everyday realities of leading a school.

That current practitioner perspective is combined with more than 25 years in education, doctoral preparation in educational leadership, more than a decade teaching and mentoring graduate students preparing for school administration, professional training, research, writing, presenting, and continued learning through my own coaching experiences.

The work is informed by research and training. It is strengthened by experience. And it is grounded in the realities of leading today.
